Winter trip to the Caribbean: GigSky cuts its eSIM prices
GigSky has lowered the prices of all its Caribbean eSIM plans for the winter season. What to know about mobile data on land and on a cruise ship.

In winter, warm destinations such as the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Jamaica and the Bahamas are especially popular. The region has many islands, each with its own mobile operators, and roaming is both expensive and hard to keep track of.
For the winter season, GigSky has lowered the prices of all its Caribbean eSIM plans. The new prices are already in effect.
Why an eSIM?
- No roaming charges: You buy the plan in advance and know exactly what you will pay.
- No SIM swapping: The eSIM is installed with a QR code or an app, and your home number can stay active.
- Regional plans: If you visit several islands, you don’t need a new SIM in every country.
We explain how eSIM works and whether your phone supports it in this article.
If you are going on a cruise
Regular mobile networks don’t work at sea. When your phone connects to a maritime satellite network, roaming can get very expensive. GigSky has dedicated cruise eSIM plans: data works on a prepaid plan both at sea and in port. Before boarding, turn off mobile roaming on your phone and use only the eSIM.
Before you buy
- Check that your phone supports eSIM and is not locked to a carrier.
- Look at which countries the plan covers: Caribbean plans may not include every island.
- Install the eSIM on Wi-Fi before your flight, but activate the plan when you arrive.
